This program is in partnership with the East Hartford Tennis Club. The lessons will be held at the state-of-the-art East Hartford Tennis Club. With their experienced instructors, who are passionate about teaching and community-building.

Red Ball
Grades 3 & 4
35-foot Court
Red ball has 75% less compression than a yellow ball.
Focus:
Building athletic development through interactive fun activities, such as running, skipping, hopping, and jumping.
Goals: Hold the racquet properly; toss and catch a ball; execute koosh ball pass; roll and trap a ball with a partner; hit a ball fed by the coach.
Ultimate Goal: rally with a partner over the net on 35 foot court.
Orange Ball
Grades 5 & 6
60-Foot Court
An orange ball has 50% less compression than a yellow ball.
Focus: Building athletic development such as running, skipping, hopping, jumping and balance.
Goals: tap ball up with forehand and backhand (self rally); execute a proper forehand and backhand from hand feeds or racquet feeds by the coach; overhand throw a ball over the net; execute overhand serve motion; learn technique for a volley at the net.
Ultimate Goal: rally with a partner over the net on 60-foot court; learn basic scoring of the game and positioning on the court.
Green Ball
Grades 7 & 8
78 Foot court
A green ball has 25% less compression than a yellow ball
Focus: Execute basic ABC'S of tennis: agility, balance, coordination, strength, and speed.
Goals: Execute forehand and backhand with proper technique ( grip, stance, unit turn; contact point, follow-through); continue to refine technique for volley, overhead, and serve. Understand scoring and positioning on the court.
Ultimate Goal: Play a short match with proper scoring.
